Engineering

We're bringing streamlined, modern engineering practices to reinsurance and building a purpose-built technology platform. This is your chance to get in early and help architect our core systems without the baggage of legacy code. We are using reliable tools that get the job done: Python, Golang, TypeScript, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, React/Next.js, GitHub, and AWS.

You'll be directly impacting how we evaluate risks and returns for investor capital, from hurricanes and earthquakes to liability and specialty risks like aviation and energy. Real decisions will be made using the systems you help build.

Senior Frontend Engineer

  • You've spent 5+ years building web apps with modern JavaScript frameworks (React).
  • You have a good eye for design and can create intuitive interfaces without requiring pixel-perfect mockups.
  • Bonus points if you're great with data visualization, especially maps, financial tables, and charts.
  • You're comfortable on the command line (bash, git, etc.).

Senior Full-Stack Engineer (backend focus)

  • You've shipped and scaled cloud apps for 5+ years and are comfortable with Kubernetes.
  • You write clean, testable Python code that others can understand and maintain.
  • You know your way around modern service architectures, REST APIs, and message queues.
  • It's a plus if you can work with frontend JavaScript frameworks too.
  • You're at home on the command line (bash, git, etc.).

Entry-Level Software Engineer / Intern (Bermuda, on-island)

You will write code that ships to production, review PRs, sit in on architecture discussions, and learn how a small, senior team builds and operates financial software. Work may span frontend (React, TypeScript), backend (Python, C++), CI/CD, data pipelines, and infrastructure on AWS.

  • Completed (or nearly completed) degree in CS or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with at least one modern language (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C++).
  • Basic understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, databases, and Git.
  • Comfortable in a terminal and Unix/Linux environment.
  • You care about how systems actually work, not just getting things to compile.
  • Clear written communication and willingness to ask questions.
  • Bonus: personal projects or open-source contributions, AWS or Docker exposure, financial services/reinsurance background.

What you'll get: mentorship from engineers with 25+ years building financial systems and distributed infrastructure, real production experience (not a sandbox), and exposure to the full development lifecycle including code review, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and observability.

Everyone on the team will:

  • Help design and build our web applications from the ground up.
  • Create interfaces that make complex financial data make sense.
  • Shape key technical decisions as we grow.
